New Young Liberal Ads

After another round of negative attack ads from the Conservatives yesterday and a groan-inducing attempt at humour (if making fun of the French counts) with their Kyoto Dog Blog, these new viral ads launched today by the Young Liberals are a refreshing change.

The three ads borrow from the Mac vs. PC theme except, of course, it's Liberal vs. Conservative, and they're darned funny (without making fun of the French). Check them out, and consider making a donation to help get the ads on the air. You can also join the Facebook group. I hear they've already gotten free media play this morning on the CBC and Canada AM.

I've always believed that when it comes to bullying like that displayed by the Harper Conservatives, the best way to respond is with humour. And I've also always said Liberals can do humour well but Conservatives, not so much. Come to think of it, it's the same way with good governing actually...

Liberal: Shouldn't we try to stop sea levels from rising?

Con: Too Difficult

Liberal: No it isn't....all you have to do is follow Kyoto"

Oh, is that all you have to? Sounds so simple!

Shoot me in the face.

M'eh. Kind of funny. But in an inside joke kind of way. Certainly not as funny as the Kyoto Dog Blog at notaleader.ca, which was updated today.

Always good to have the youth involved, but having to use their not so slick products to respond to another party's ad campaign is not the sign of a professional and responsive political party.

Brilliant and impressive. And they are much more professionally done than the Conservative attack ads. Kudos!

LOL. Criticism from a guy who can’t even seem to get his blog up and running after three feeble attempts (What, too “hard” for you, Mr. Shoot Me in the Face?) and more from somebody who seriously thinks that Fred Thompson is going to be the next president of the U.S. Yes, some mighty wise counsel to be had from THAT quarter.

Ouch, a drive by smear, and by so eloquent an idiot as RedBoring no less.

These aren't even funny. They're done by a bunch of dork Liberals with pathetic Liberal senses of humour. I think Kyoto's dog blog is alot better than these stupid ads.

Wow emil - that says a lot about you.

I think they are funny and well done. You are right Jeff, best to fight back with humour.

I really have to agree that the Kyoto Dog Blog is better and funnier. Much to my surprise coming from Cons.

We keep putting out videos that look like they were done by highschoolers and are targeted only towards Liberals.

The Tories new ad was front and center and playable on the Star's website yesterday. These videos will get played, well....here.

I'm really getting tired of playing in the minors with these videos while Harper and the Tories plays in the big leagues with their ads.

Huh? I wasn't suprised at all that that lameness came out of the Tory brain trust.

Amanda...you sound like a concern troll. "Play in the big leagues?" With that Notaleader nonsense? C'mon...

These ads are lame. Whats cool about the Conservative ads is that its Stephane Dion and his party shooting themselves in their own feet by what they say.

Otherwise its easy to make a bunch of these boring insults.

Of course the whole thing will get old fast.

well done ads. 7/10 in humour. 9/10 in clear message.
let's remember how people criticized harper's ads for being 'amateur' last campaign. the message is more important than the medium, and the message is effective.

These ads are hilarious! I hope these ads do receive lots of airplay, then maybe we'll finally get a plausible explanation from the Liberal Party of Canada as to why they did the exact opposite of honouring the Kyoto Protocal. It's not like they didn't have enough time or political standing to do the right thing. Any suggestions anyone on how we can turn back time?

Yeah, I have one. Vote for Harper.

They're a little amateurish, but I think that's actually a good thing. They're Young Liberals, so they aren't necessarily going to be expected to be putting out professional-quality material, or perform like professional actors.

These come across as a cute Youtube-style parody, and I think that'll help them with the target demographic: potential Young Liberals.
