Harper holy host video censored

I guess the Harper holy host video has gotten to someone, because YouTube has pulled it offline, supposedly because of a copyright claim by SRC (french CBC). Which is odd, because its not even their footage in the video, but CPAC's.(The extender version is still online.)

Copyright advocate Michael Geist weighs-in on the fallacy of the copyright argument:

http://www.michaelgeist.ca/content/view/4117/125/

I recall that a few months back YouTube also pulled a GritGirl video, that time supposedly at the request of CTV. The common denominator both times? Videos that were troublesome for the Conservative Party. Ironic, that.

Also ironic that this hamfisted attempt at censorship will only give this Harper holy host story another day or more of coverage, when otherwise it was pretty much over. And if I know the Inter-tubes, the video will live on...

PS sorry for lack of linkage, am on the blackberry.

You got this one wrong BCer,
just in:

The priest who delivered the homily at the funeral mass of former governor-general Romeo LeBlanc said :
...
“The Prime Minister did consume the host; he did not put it in his pocket,” said Father Arthur Bourgeois, who had been a friend of Mr. LeBlanc for 30 years.
...
He also said Mr. Harper may have been caught in an awkward position.
Usually Catholics walk up to the priest to receive communion but at the funeral mass the priest approached everyone sitting the first pew so Mr. Harper may have been caught off guard...

“We were so flattered that the Prime Minister took the time to come down so we feel embarrassed by the whole controversy he faced,” he said.

wilson, your comment is off topic for a post on the video take-down, and really belongs on the other thread.

But anyways, this priest says him consume it, another priest says he saw him pocket it. Far be it from me to choose between conflicting men of the cloth. All I know is what I saw in the video, which was the wafer going into his hand and down to his lap, and staying there for quite awhile. So if he did eat it, he certainly took his time.

But as I said, I was willing to turn the other cheek on this awhile ago. Its the ham-fisted response of the Harper team (blithely saying he consumed it within seconds when the video clearly disproves that, unless we're talking hundreds of seconds), and now this unfounded attempt to censor the video, allegedly by Radio Canada. Their handling of this has extended the story further than it would otherwise have been.

barcs,

The Liberal media dominoes are falling one-by-one...

You know.. I could believe that if only the media was to write the stories showing it....

Take the G8 and the reporting of Canada position on GHG's.... no mention that the American one is the same, only that Harper is out of step.

And then there is the famed hero president that will close Gitmo..... You may want to google "post-acquittal detention power"...... even W was too timid to imprison people declared innocent.

Why isn't the liberal (turned conservative...lmao) media reporting it?

Instead we have several papers reporting (today) iron clad evidence that Harper scandalized the entire catholic world (a week ago) but others seem to have conflicting views.... Wilson's NP story for example.

But the Star is keeping it alive this morning "The video has gone viral on the internet" Too bad they don't tell you that only 25k people saw it.

50k hits on the youtube vid actually, and a number of media outlets copied it and hosted their own copy at their own sites. So, by Canadian standards, it well and truly did go viral.

But anyway, let me let you in on a little secret on media bias: it does exist. But the bias isn't Liberal, or Conservative, or Pirate Party. it's a bias for a juicy story, period. Politics doesn't enter into it. It's about viewers/readers/listeners, period.
