(Video) Ignatieff in Hamilton, Waterloo and Toronto

It was a busy weekend for Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff as he made a number of stops around southern Ontario.

Here's a report from CHCH news on his visit to Hamilton:

His visit to Waterloo for a Young Liberal rally got good coverage by the local media (watch the rally video here):

WATERLOO — The Liberal Party abandoned its support for the Conservatives in the House of Commons because of the Tories’ terrible record on a whole slew of issues, Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff said Saturday.

During a visit to Wilf’s campus pub at Wilfrid Laurier University, Ignatieff attacked the Tories on a broad range of issues, including the rising deficit, high unemployment, its response to the H1N1 flu epidemic and its failure to fix the problem over medical isotopes.

After detailing the Tory shortcomings on each issue, Ignatieff paused for dramatic effect and asked, “Is that good enough?” The audience packed with young Liberals responded on cue with a loud “no.”
And in Toronto he also delivered greetings for Eid,the Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan:

I understand today at 11:45am in Toronto, Ignatieff will be speaking to the Toronto Board of Trade. It's supposed to be an economic speech, and hopefully it will put a little policy meat on the bones.

I saw a leaked copy of Ignatieff's speech. Here it is in a nutshell.

Blah blah blah . . . we can do better . . . Blah blah blah . . . I don't have to have a position . . . Blah blah blah . . . we can do better . . .

I let your comment through but next time I won't if it's equally as stupid and off topic from the post. I know you're capable of at least semi-intelligent commentary. Next time try.

Well, I see why he calls himself Prairie "Kid" - his response is that of a 10 year old.

Pathetic.

Prairie Kid, all I see is blah blah blah whenever you try to make a point.

BTW how is life as a member of the Layton Conservatives these days? Or is it the Harper NDP?

Lol Good times...

I'd suggest the next time Ignatieff is asked on Hamilton's getting an NHL franchise he should say he supports the 'Make it Seven' campaign but wants to turn it into the Make it Eight...

Jeff, I don't know if you'll see this, since this is an older post, but did you see Rick Mercer's latest 'rant'?

It probably won't be on TV until tonight (or tomorrow - I don't know when his show is on any more).

He says some stuff you would agree with regarding Harper and Layton and stuff you would not agree with, about Ignatieff.

If you want to read it, it's here:

I don't consider this off topic, because unless I'm wrong, this post is part of your ongoing campaign to point out that Ignatieff is out there, despite what the media say. (Not criticizing when I use the word 'campaign'. I think it's a fair characterization of a worthy effort.)

What Mercer is saying (and Prairie Kid tried to say, too, in his incompetent way) is 'Okay, he's out there, but he's not making the message of his position clear.'

Maybe he's wrong - I'm sure you think he is - but Mercer, and the rest of the media aren't getting the message, for whatever reason.

Why not?

I'm sincerely interested in your thoughts on this.

As much as I'd like to see the Greens running the country, I think the Liberals are the best hope for ousting Harper, so this matters. If Ignatieff can't make himself understood, and distinct from Harper - in the public perception, not just to political insiders and junkies, as you pointed out in one of your National Post items - we're just going to have more of the same.
