New Liberal contrast ads

The Liberals released two pointed and focused contrast ads this morning, returning the Conservative personal attacks with issue-based critiques. I'll told you should be seeing these ads on TV as we speak. More to come soon, I need to shower, shave and get off to work. For now, here are the ads.

fairly good solid reply to the disgusting attack ads of the CP. These address real issues of government committed by a terrible, wasteful Prime MInister. But still reasonably hard-hitting.

The corporate tax cut one really needed to mention Harper's record deficit as well.

Which, BTW, is what I say to the CPC trolls when they point out that the Liberals were slashing the corporate tax rate as well when in office.

My kids shouldn't be financing corporations' tax cuts.

I am impressed at the lengths the Liberals like to omit facts in making their case.

Bias in the media refers to CPC as Republican American "attack" ads.

Same media omits the words "attack" or reference to American style.

Reminds me how they cite the same four of five experts and omit their background.

CS - the personal attack ads the CPC uses are a textbook Republican Party strategy since George Bush Sr was in office. Republican strategists Frank Luntz, Mike Murphy and many others of lesser note have all helped coach the CPC on perfecting these techniques. There are indeed GOP influenced and the media are referencing facts.

Besides it's rich when an uber-partisan like yourself is crying bias.

Politics, History is NOT your strong suit.

I remember President Kennedy sending his strategist NORTH to help the Liberals defeat the Canadian government. Look up Lou Harris.

It is funny how Liberals insult Americans without understanding how Liberals were working with them all along.

“We will accelerate and deepen the currently planned corporate tax cuts, reducing the general corporate tax rate by an additional one per cent within four years. That means the federal corporate tax rate in Canada will be only 14 per cent by the 2012.” – Liberal press release, June 19, 2008

And then Harper racked up a deficit North of $50 billion. You may think borrowing money and going deeper into debt to give tax breaks to big business makes sense. I don't.

CS, the attacks against Diefenbaker were well documented in one, single classic for the ages. Lament for a Nation by George Grant.

Indeed Kennedy and the Democrats helped the Liberals and the Canadian establishment preform a thorough smear-job on the Diefenbaker government.

However Pearson's attacks were not personal in nature.

You should really read Grant's book. It is as much a lament of traditional Anglo-Canadian conservatism as it is for the Canadian nation prior to the boomers and the Quebec separatist movement.

I'm sure you would consider him a Liberal or even a socialist CS; even though Grant was as traditional a blue-blood, old-school Tory as any encyclopedia could define.

Back to personal attack ads, it is indeed W's dad that perfected the modern personal attacks against one's opponent. You really need to read more books CS, instead of trolling blogs 24/7.

Grant rejected the anti-religious views of the Democrats but felt the need for compassion. He also would not support the Liberals today regardless of Ignatieff.

TVO aired a show recently.
What makes you think forces outside Canada are not trying to disrupt our progress?

The anti-Oil sands marketing campaigns funded by whom in the US?

I never said Grant would support the Liberals. In fact I'm pretty sure he would consider Iggy to harbour only a less objectionable version of Harper's corporatist, neo-liberal, pro-American, anti-Canadian economic policy; regardless of Grant and Iggy being related.

Though Grant would give some credit to Harper for saving Sask Potash Corp. To be kind he would find favour with Iggy when he did his initial town-halls a couple of years ago engaging the audience in the debate about what the essence of Canadian nationalism is. That ended when the OLO realized it wasn't a vote getter. Too bad as this was near and dear to Grant, and certainly never discussed anymore in election campaigns.

I have no idea who Grant would support if he were alive today, maybe the Greens? More than likely he just wouldn't vote since no party espouses proper Tory values anymore.

He most certainly would not vote for the Conservative party if that's what you're driving at CS.

You clearly don't understand the views of pro-life.

It was non-negotiable. Liberals and NDP are not compatible.

I said some of his economic policies would be left. He was anti-american anti-free trade.

Ignatieff is an opportunist. I liked his speeches before he became a politician.
Ask Liberals many think he would make a good minister for foreign affairs for our PM or for the US.
